Early in the month, the Stockholm Community celebrated Sweden Day in style with a picnic in the park full of “Swedishness,” humor, quizzes, and local treats.
The Montréal Out & About Group, meanwhile, took to the water with a Summer Is Coming Boat Party on 13 June. With great food, a live DJ, and even a meditation session — this sunset cruise had it all!
Speaking of live music: the San Francisco Bay Explorers Group pulled out all the stops for their Rock & Roll Hippie Beach Party: a potluck-style dinner, cocktails, beach games, a bonfire … and most impressive of all, their very own rock band. Shame that the weather didn’t quite cooperate but looks like it was an epic event all the same!
For everyone who now feels like they’ve been missing out: not to worry, outdoor events are a popular format these months. Just keep your eyes open for opportunities like the upcoming Kyoto Riverside Picnic on 28 June, or the Michigan Winery Adventure bike tour of the Chicago Outdoor Adventures Group on the same day.
One popular variation of outdoor events: joining local festivals!
In Munich, for instance, the Wine and Spirits Tasting Group headed to the Weinfest at the Seebühne on 6 June. The open-air, amphitheater-style stage right next to a scenic lake provided the perfect setting for wine tasting amid live Latin music .
A local wine festival was also on the agenda of the Duesseldorf Last Minute Activities Group. Taking place at the historic Kaiserpfalz ruin in nearby Kaiserswerth, the “KaiserWein” festival brings together winegrowers from across Germany.
True to their name, the London Food Group didn’t go out for drinks — but instead headed to London’s one and only Summer Pasta Festival on 8 June. Music, masterclasses, and, of course, lots of pasta awaited attendees.
Neither food nor drinks were the focus of the Arts Festival the Columbus Community visited on 7 June. Reportedly one of the best summer festivals the city has to offer, attendees met at the Scioto Bronze Deer Sculpture (talk about an easy-to-spot meeting point!) to begin their tour around the festival.
Did you know? This Saturday, 21 June, is World Day of Music. Not that we ever need a specific reason to celebrate music!
The Vienna Burgers & More Group, for instance, enjoyed a Summer Night at the Castle: they visited the popular open-air concert of the Vienna Philharmonic in front of Schönbrunn Palace. A truly beautiful backdrop for a musical journey through well-known melodies from opera and operetta.
In Hamburg, members of the Last Minute Meeting Group enjoyed a free Jazz Evening by the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre. Part of the event even doubled as an exam for the students performing.
The Milwaukee Community similarly went to a jazz-y event; specifically, the Jazz in the Park festival. Equipped with picnic blankets and lawn chairs, attendees had a relaxing evening with great music and even better company.
If you’re in Melbourne on 29 June, you can also enjoy some Salsa. The Music Lovers Group is coming together for a Winter-Warming Latin Music Night to the fiery rhythms of Cuba, Puerto Rica, and Colombia.
